Keeping your contact information up to date is essential so that Offord Primary School can reach parents and carers quickly in the event of an emergency.
If you move house, change your home or mobile number, or update the adults you wish to list as emergency contacts, please inform us immediately by emailing office@offordprimaryschool.org or calling 01480 810308.
Emergency Closure
On rare occasions, it may be necessary to close Offord Primary School at short notice. This can happen for a number of reasons, including severe weather conditions—such as heavy snow—that make the site unsafe or prevent sufficient staff from travelling to school to ensure appropriate supervision.
We recognise that school closures are disruptive for families and interrupt pupils’ learning, so the decision is never taken lightly. Any closure is made only after careful consideration and consultation with relevant authorities, such as the County Council.
If the school does need to close, the decision is usually made early in the morning so that families can be informed before pupils leave home. We will communicate closure information through:
- Parent Hub and social media, where updates will be posted promptly
- A notice on the front page of the school website
- Local radio stations, which will broadcast closure announcements throughout the morning
It is extremely rare for the school to close during the school day due to the challenges of safely coordinating the collection of all pupils. If this ever became necessary, children would remain safely supervised in school until parents or carers can be contacted and collection arrangements confirmed.
